ITCR

ITCR produces and carries out an annual exchange programme for emerging performance artists from Europe.
The programme takes the shape of a two-month?s residency in changing locations around the European continent

For these programmes ITCR chooses participants who have a keen interest in developing their skills as well as in exploring the nature and universal language of theatre and story telling. They are committed to exchange their visions of contemporary theatre and to investigate its relevance in today?s society.

--

PURPOSE

ITCR contributes to shaping a rich and alive European identity within the arts and cultural societies. It achieves this purpose by :

Furthering an active exchange and appreciation of the diversity of European contemporary theatre and its new streams through a collaborative working process.

Furthering participants? understanding of diverse cultures, artistic heritages and creative influences ? encouraging them to set their respective traditions into a contemporary context.

Nurturing the development of emerging artists in the Europe by providing a platform to explore their ideas, develop their working techniques and aquire new professional and personal skills.

Creating innovative and truly European theatre experiences for both participants and audiences ? including audiences outside the main cultural centres that are often underexposed to such cultural artistic events.

--

To fulfil its purpose and aims ITCR:

1. choses a geographical area in Europe, where artists and audiences have little or no access to international
exchange and the exploration of contemporary theatre outside their own boarders.

2. Invites selected artists for a two-month?s residency, during which they form a temporary ensemble living, working and creating together.

3. appoints established and acclaimed European performance artists to lead a series of workshops and master classes for participants to further their experience and skills in contemporary physical theatre performance

-- devises an original theatre production with a contemporary and relevant issue at its heart .

4. works closely with a local partner (theatre company/theater venue/arts organisation) to promote the residency and attract new audiences.

-- performs the created theatre production throughout the local area, with the possibility of national touring.

5. Attracts new audiences through creating public awareness of the residency through promotional activities and
additional public events.
